Feeling guilty that you sleep a bare minimum, that you are even sleeping, and not working? Are you watching that movie for the first time in months and feel guilty? Or that you ate for far too long when you could’ve worked? You just can’t stop working and if you do, you feel guilty? If yes, then welcome to the club of workaholics.
What can I say? It sucks. Half of the time you hate yourself and the other half you again hate yourself because you feel like you can do better.
Breaks are important, don’t get me wrong. It’s impossible to work 24/7 without a break. 18/7 is more feasible. But 24/7? Definitely not.
But what if you can work and sleep at the same time? Probably some nonsense. But imagine if you have control over your dreams, that you can manipulate them and use them to your advantage. Lucid dreaming some call it. But, there is a problem. Even if you can achieve that—what trust me requires a lot of concentration—then you technically are not sleeping. The thing is when we dream—vivid or lucid (especially lucid)—our brain is still working as if we’re awake. And that…well, you know.
But let’s imagine that you can’t just stop seeing dreams. (Did you see what I just did? Started with work and ended up talking about sleep instead. Typical me…) My advice? I have no idea! Oversleeping is not an option—going back to the earliest point where you feel too guilty for sleeping too much when you could’ve worked. Reading books or watching TV? Well, perhaps. But it depends. Taking a walk outside? That must be it. Yeah, that’s it! Walk! Go start walking, people! Find whatever is best for you, though. We are the same yet we are not.
