My second semester in college seems to be nothing but hell. Having roommates who disrespect anyone but themselves, getting drunk every other night, and literally not taking into account that somebody may actually be asleep at that time, had driven me mad nearly every night.
Back in my childhood, I would deal with it the way that shouldn’t be dealt with—with violence. And even with the patience, I have today...well, everything has its own limits.
So I thought to myself, I wake up at 4AM—when they are asleep—so why won’t I make as much of the noise as I humanly can to teach them a lesson? As tempting as it sounds, the answer, however, is simply no. You don’t need to get on their level by sacrificing your own values, principles. It’s simply won’t worth it—not in this case at least.
But you don’t have to bear it like you’re okay with it. Deal with it in a way that won’t darken your soul. Because in my experience, one thing leads to the next, and eventually, you’ll stop recognizing yourself in the mirror.
PS: Don’t waste your most productive years on getting drunk.
